The various series of the Pittsburgh Poetry Collective are fully audience and participant supported.  Thank you for spending your time and money with us over the years! Your $5-10 cover keeps our website running, our sound systems audible, and our community spaces brave for poets to share their work, while helping register for regional and national competitions.  Things are very uncertain out there right now for many people – we get it. Things change daily. Allegheny County is under a stay-at-home order until April 30 that we will abide by. Poetry & Pints on 4/2 will take place over Zoom, and we are testing a system to hold an entire poetry slam via videoconference, so…  FUN! We are trying and learning new things.

We are still posting online-only events in the Pittsburgh Poetry Calendar Facebook Group.  You can read online with us here or read with old and new friends from around the country! Our open mic/ meetup via Zoom went well on 3/24.  Poetry & Pints on 4/2 will be online and we’re going to be posting a workshop for 4/7, all via video!

The Rustbelt Regional Poetry Slam 2020 has been canceled.  The International Poetry Slam in August is beyond our financial capabilities.  We still do not know when or if we will be able to reschedule the Grand Slam. Congratulations again and again to all of the qualifiers!  We’re not giving up! We just don’t know. Regardless, we sincerely hope that everyone who slammed in the 2019-2020 season will be back with us when we are all able to be together again.

We are not asking for money – we have enough to keep things running for the time being, and there are folx in greater need.  We just want to let you know what we’re working with. Transparency. Thank you again for being part of this community. If you have to be out there right now – take recommended public health precautions.  Take care of yourself and each other. <3
